The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Flood Warning for the Walnut River near Winfield from this morning until Saturday evening.
At 1:46 AM Friday the stage was 16.6 feet. The flood stage for the Walnut River is 18 feet. Minor flooding is in the forecast. The Walnut River will rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue to rise to near 19.2 feet by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage by late Saturday morning.
At 18 feet, flooding of the campgrounds and fairgrounds on the west side of Winfield can be expected.
