The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flood Advisory for northwestern Logan County, eastern Garfield County, southern Kay County and Noble County in northern Oklahoma until 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Heavy rain made way through the area during the early morning hours as 2 to 3 inches of rain has already fallen across the advised area. Another 1 to 1.5 inches of rain is expected over the area which could cause minor flooding.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Ponca City, Perry, Tonkawa, Garber, Covington, Billings, Kaw City, Red Rock, Marshall, Marland, Fairmont, Douglas, Lucien, Sooner Lake, Kaw Lake, Ceres and Hayward.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
