Cushing woman killed in Payne County accident

A woman is dead due to a fatal accident that occurred in Payne County Monday.

Leslie Escoe, 48, of Cushing had her  2012 Nissan Versa stopped in the outside north bound lane of US 177 due to a flat tire. Robert Bentley, 58, of Cleveland stopped her 2013 Ram 1500 to help Escoe. Both drivers were standing near the Nissan Versa assessing the tire.

That’s when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Kail Carder, 23, of Stillwater, struck the Ram 1500, causing it to strike the Nissan Versa and Escoe.

Escoe was deceased on scene and later transported by Strode Funeral Home to OCME. Bentley suffered injuries to arms, refused treatment at the scene. Carder was not injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Matt Stacy #889 with the Troop Z – Traffic Homicide Unit . Assisted by Trooper Colby Martens #691 and Trooper Steve Burrows #202 of Troop K – Payne County Detachment, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Stillwater Police Department, and LifeNet EMS.
