Officials report that three fires burned across Kay County Tuesday. Ponca City assisted Ranch Drive with a Blaze. Ranch Drive also worked a second blaze with McCord and Newkirk assisted Blackwell with a fire. Dry conditions are forecasted for the rest of the week.

According to the Oklahoma Forestry Department, humidity is lower than 25%, which fires can easily spread in those conditions.

Large fire potential increases Friday and especially Saturday.  At this time, significant fire potential appears to be limited and relegated to western Oklahoma where Energy Release Component values have topped the 90th percentile.

A burn ban in Kay County expired on Sunday. Harris said fire departments plan to ask county commissioners for another one.
