As COVID-19 continues to make an impact on social events, changes are being made regarding Blackwell High School’s homecoming festivities this year.

Blackwell Public Schools announced Thursday the following changes for when they honor the class years ending with 0 and 5.

First, due to social distancing issues, BPS will not have the coffee in the study center, and the Blackwell Education Foundation will not be hosting a luncheon this year.

Additionally, in place of one large gathering, there will be two assemblies recognizing the classes and presenting Miss BHS and Maroon Spirit. Classes ending with a 0 will gather in the auditorium at 10:00 a.m. and the classes ending with a 5 will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium. As you enter, temperatures will be taken, and masks will strongly be encouraged during the assembly.

Finally, since the parade is outside, it will continue as usual beginning at 4:00 p.m. down town, and the football game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. with the football royalty presentation starting at 6:30 p.m. The wearing of masks and social distancing during the assemblies and football game are strongly encouraged.
