If you own or manage a business, we encourage that you carefully watch your mail for fraudulent unemployment claims against your business.

It’s been going on statewide with individuals filing claims against companies they’ve never worked for. It’s happened three times in the past two weeks here at Sterling Broadcasting, and has targeted local businesses as well.

According to KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission has identified over 3,800 false unemployment claims since mid-March.

Even though the claims are fraudulent, you must still respond to the state to refute the claim within 10 days of receiving the notice in the mail.
