Wednesday was a busy, yet tough day for the City of Blackwell. From a fatal oil rig truck accident (Click here) to multiple structure fires across the city last night which caused power outages.
Blackwell City Manager Jerry Wieland released the following statement Thursday:
“Yesterday was a tough day for the City of Blackwell, as there were multiple calls for emergency services.
The City of Blackwell would like to take a moment to thank the following emergency services who battled raging fires in the fierce wind through most of the late afternoon and into the night.
We would like to thank Blackwell Fire & EMS, Blackwell Police Department, Blackwell Dispatch, Blackwell Animal Control, and Blackwell Public Power.
These local crews continue to exemplify the dedicated, driven, spirit of our community.
We would also like to give a very deep thanks to
Tonkawa Fire, Kildare Fire, Braman Fire, Newkirk Fire, Deer Creek Fire, and Ranch Drive Fire for assisting our crews battling yesterday’s flames.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Kay County Sheriff’s Department, and Air Evac medical team as well as Dewitt Farms
