The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 876 new positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Sept. 9. In addition, Oklahoma has now seen a total of 65,929 COVID-19 cases as 9,661 of those cases remain active.
Kay County saw nine new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s stats to 383 cases, 12 deaths and 286 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 65 in Ponca City, seven in Blackwell, four in Tonkawa and three in Newkirk. Kaw City has no active cases.
As for new cases in local counties, there are 38 in Payne County where Stillwater remains seventh in the state for most COVID-19 cases, there are also 22 for Garfield County, 12 for Logan County, eight for Osage County, two for Washington County and one for Noble County.
Nine new virus-related deaths were reported Wednesday, putting Oklahoma’s death toll to 863. None of the new deaths occurred in local counties.
The number of recoveries took a significant jump on Wednesday as OSDH is reporting 1,136 new recoveries statewide. This puts Oklahoma’s recovery total to 55,405. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that as of Wednesday, 887,607 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,253 total hospitalizations as 462 people are currently hospitalized.
