The latest data from the Oklahoma State Department of Health is out for Monday, Aug. 10, and there are 397 new positive COVID-19 cases to report. Oklahoma has now seen 43,963 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started earlier in the year, and 6,980 cases are active.
Two additional virus-related deaths were reported Monday, one which was identified in the last 24 hours. Both deaths occurred in Jackson County in southwest Oklahoma. One individual was a male in the 50-64 age group, and the other was a female in the 65 or older age group. Oklahoma’s death toll is now at 605.
Kay County did not see any new cases on Monday. Kay County has seen 244 cases, 11 deaths and 202 recoveries. There are currently over 30 active cases in Kay County. Ponca City has 19 active cases, Blackwell and Tonkawa both have four and Newkirk and Kaw City both have three.
As for new cases in local counties, Payne County has 10, Osage County with nine, Garfield County has eight, Washington County with four, Logan County has two and Noble and Pawnee counties both have one.
OSDH is also reporting 326 new recoveries, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 36,378. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
