The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 3,142 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, January 14. Oklahoma’s seen 344,506 COVID-19 cases overall as 38,148 cases are active.
A total of 34 virus-related deaths were documented on Thursday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 2,882. This includes one for Kay County for a Ponca City male in the 65 or older age group.
Kay County saw an increase on Wednesday with 49 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 4,045 cases, 45 deaths and 3,490 recoveries. Data for Kay County communities is posted below:

OSDH also reported 4,101 new recoveries for Thursday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 303,476. This also makes it the second day in a row that Oklahoma’s seen a higher amount of recoveries compared to new cases. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Thursday’s report shows there have been 99,373 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in Oklahoma and that there are 4,672 completed series. The number of prime doses given is 94,701. There have also been 221,100 prime doses allocated and 42,900 boost doses allocated.
Health officials report that as of Thursday, there have been 2,563,861 total negative test results, 19,460 hospitalizations and 1,844 people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. There are 474 patients in ICU.
