On the morning of March 12, 2025, the Ponca City Police Department received still photographs from an Administrator at McCord Elementary School. The department was advised that the Osage County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a burglary and vandalism of the school. These images were immediately shared with PCPD Patrol Officers in an effort to gather any possible leads.
Earlier that same morning, prior to the start of day shift, the PCPD received a report from a Ponca City citizen regarding a vehicle that had possibly been stolen from within city limits. The citizen suspected that her son’s friends had taken her Honda Civic but had returned it to her home early that morning.
After reviewing the images provided from McCord Elementary, Officer Uribe made an astute connection between the two cases. He contacted the victim of the car theft and was able to positively identify the two suspects involved in the McCord School burglary in Osage County. Due to his diligence and quick thinking, he provided this information to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and they, along with Patrolman Uribe, were able to arrest both suspects in Ponca City the following morning.
Any incident that affects area children, and their learning environments, will always be of the utmost importance to our agency. Officer Uribe’s ability to connect seemingly unrelated cases, his proactive engagement in the investigation, and his commitment to inter-agency collaboration exemplify the highest standards of our agency. His exceptional efforts not only led to the resolution of a significant case but also reinforced the integrity and effectiveness of our department’s willingness to assist area law enforcement agencies with their investigations.
We are proud to award Patrolman Uribe with this Letter of Commendation for his willingness to ensure area children are able to learn in a safe environment.
