The Kansas Department of Transportation announced more road work projects for the area.
According to a news release from KDOT Monday, sections of K-15, U.S. 166 and U.S. 77 in Cowley County will be resurfaced starting around June 23. The project involves a milling and hot-mix-asphalt overlay on K-15 from the Oklahoma/Kansas state line to the U.S. 166 junction and U.S. 166 from the U.S. 77 junction to the Chautauqua/Cowley county line.
The length of those two sections is about 36 miles.
Similar work is also slated for a almost a mile of U.S. 77 at Ark City, from Summit Street to Madison Avenue.
During work, traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should expect to slow down and stop and face delays of up to 15 minutes.
The work is expected to be completed around Sept. 19.
Cornejo & Sons is the primary contractor for the $6,934,798 project on K-15 and U.S. 166 and for the $248,775 project on U.S. 77.
