Kay News Cow reports that the Kay County Treasurer’s office will be holding the annual Tax Resale on Monday, June 13 at the Kay County Administration Building, 219 S Main, Newkirk, beginning at 9 a.m.

“This sale will be for property that is being sold for several years of delinquent tax as required by state statute Title 68 Section 3129,” said treasurer Christy Kennedy.

There will be less space due to the change of location. It will be the responsibility of those who choose to attend to take precautions for COVID-19 such as masks and distancing.

The property will be sold to the highest bidder for cash only. All property must be sold for the sum not less than two-thirds of the assessed value of such real estate or for the amount of tax, penalties, interest and cost due on such property, whichever is the lesser amount.

The property is transferred by Treasurer’s deed. The real estate is being sold in “as is” condition without any warranty, either expressed or implied, as to the nature, condition or description of the property. The treasurer’s office has done extensive research and notification of these properties and will provide information to prospective buyers. Buyers, however, shall rely entirely on their own information, judgment and inspection of the property and records.

A list of the available properties can be obtained on-line at kaycounty.org or purchased at the Treasurer’s office.

This list will include addresses, or the approximate addresses, of vacant lots for these properties.

After obtaining the list, persons interested in these properties may contact the Treasurer’s office for more information as to addresses or location of said properties.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The treasurer’s office phone number is 580-362-2523 or you can reach Christy Kennedy by email at [email protected]. or Rhonda Stephens by email at [email protected]
