Kay County residents injured in accident in Missouri

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that three Kay County residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:25 p.m. today on U.S. 36 three miles east of Chillicothe, Mo. in Livingston County, about 90 miles northeast of Kansas City.

According to Kay News Cow, Missouri troopers report that Taylor S. McCannon, 19, and Gary C. Varner, 24, both of Blackwell and 44-year-old Agustin Alvarado Sanchez of Tonkawa, were all transported by Livingston County ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center with minor injuries.

Troopers report that the three were in a 2020 Dodge Ram, driven by Varner, traveling eastbound on U.S. 36.

Richard B. Cook, 59, Statesville, N. C. was driving a 2019 Freightliner eastbound on the same highway.

Troopers report the semi was traveling in the driving lane and the Dodge was traveling in the passing lane attempting to overtake the semi when the freightliner crossed the center line and attempted to navigate a left hand turn onto CR Liv 253.

Troopers report the front right of the Dodge struck the driver’s side of the semi causing both vehicles to come to rest on their wheels facing east on U.S. 36.

Cook was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
