Flood Warning Issued For Arkansas River At Ark City; No Major Event Expected

Minor river flooding is forecast for the Arkansas River at Ark City.

According to local emergency management, the river should crest Thursday night around midnight at 12.4 foot and should fall below flood stage sometime Saturday. Flood stage for the Arkansas River at Ark City is 11 foot.

The Walnut River at Ark City is being effected by the Arkansas River and should also rise to around 12 to 13 foot later Thursday night. Flood stage is 18 foot for the Walnut at Ark City. Public Works crews closed storm water gate on the Arkansas River levee Wednesday afternoon. Crews will be monitoring levees next few days.

An average of an inch per day of precipitation was recorded the past three days in Ark City, with a total precipitation during that span of 3.02 inches. Dry and warmer weather is forecast through the weekend.
