The Centennial Committee at Cowley College is putting together special activities for the community, students, and alumni as they prepare to celebrate 100 years of classes being offered at its main campus in Ark City.
In honor of 100 years of service, Kansas Lt. Gov. David Toland will be on hand for Proclamation Day at Cowley College on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. in the Brown Center.
According to a news release from the college, the event will include a preview of time capsule items, and the college will be celebrating the first day of classes that took place 100 years ago on Sept. 12, 1922, with special surprises for students.
The main campus recently installed centennial banners and signage, while the Centennial Committee is working on a commemorative book that looks back over the history of the college for the past 100 years from the basement university to where it is today.
