Candidates interested in filing for Braman Board of Trustees Office No.  2,4,&5, Kaw City Councilmember Wards No. 1 & 3, Newkirk City Commissioner No.2 and Tonkawa City Councilmember Wards No. 1 & 2 will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 am Monday February 3, 2025.
Those who wish to file  for a municipal office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Kay County Election Board February 3, 4, or 5, between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm. Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at https://oklahoma.gov/election/candidates/candidate-filing.html and at the Kay County Election Board.
In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates must also submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which can be obtained from the Kay County Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.html. Information on the Voter Registration Verification Form must match the information provided on the Declaration of Candidacy.
Carol Leaming Secretary of the Kay County Election Board, reminds candidates that Contest of Candidacy must be filed no later than 5 pm Friday, February 7, 2025 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed. Contest against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the Kay County Election Board.
Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:
Braman Board of Trustees Office No. 2, 4, and 5.
Kaw City Councilmember Ward No. 1 and 3.
Newkirk City Commissioner No. 2.
Tonkawa City Councilmember Ward No. 1 and 2.

The Kay County Election Board is located at 219 S Main St. in Newkirk and is open Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm.
The General Election is scheduled for April 1, 2025.
