Local newspaper changes ownership

Beverly Bryant - November 7, 2018 11:35 am

The Ponca City News has changed ownership, with the Muchmore family selling the newspaper to Scott Wesner and Scott Wood.
Wesner and Wood became owners on Nov. 1.
In addition to the newspapers that they own individually, they co-own additional papers in Dalhart, Texas; Coleman, Texas; Independence, Kan.; Coffeyville, Kan.; Gothenburg, Neb. and Elk City.
Along with Publisher Josh Umholtz, Wesner and Wood bring new energy and enthusiasm to The Ponca City News.
The Ponca City News is a rarity in local newspapers in the 21st century in that it has remained under the ownership of the same family for 100 years
“We are so excited to be part of the tradition at The Ponca City News,” Wesner said.
