Ponca City Now - July 13, 2018 10:00 am

Brace Books and More will present local author Monyue Odell Bright in a book signing this Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m.

Bright will be in store with her children’s book, “The First Day of School.”

Bright has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education, with a master’s degree in special education. Her philosophy in education is that all students, regardless of their physical and mental challenges, can compete and learn to their fullest ability if provided the right opportunity and environment suitable to their learning needs.

With this philosophy, she devoted her educational career to teaching children with some of the most challenging learning needs. Her interest in children with special needs led her to become a special education teacher. She currently works in the Ponca City Public Schools.

Bright is from Liberia, West Africa. She and her family migrated to the United States during their country’s civil war. She and her husband of 30 years, the Rev. Dr. Dee Wellington Bright Sr., priest of Grace Episcopal Church; and their daughter, Tinika, live in Ponca City. Their two other children of adult ages, Dee W. Bright Jr., and Vonti O. Bright, live in Texas.

Bright earned her master’s degree from St. Thomas University, St. Paul, MN, and earned first degree from Bay Path University in Longmeadow, MA.
