Ponca City Public Schools-
Crystal Reece, teacher at Liberty Elementary, recently received a Donors Choose grant from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Reece received funding for her project called “A Library to Tote Home.”
“Developing our language skills is an essential part of learning,” said Reece. “We know that reading books and a student being read to is an effective way to build vocabulary. Many of my students do not have a personal library, so I wanted to provide my students with books to read at home.”
“Not only does this experience allow my students to reach our learning goals in reading, but it also develops emotional bonds with family members connected to their classroom experience.”
Reece has already received the books and bags. “I was so excited to be able to send them home for the first time during Read Across America Week.”
