Letter Carriers’ Food Drive Saturday

Ponca City Now - May 7, 2015 2:04 pm

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), the United States Postal Service and the United Way are teaming up on Saturday to stamp out hunger in our community.

The annual food drive helps fill the cupboards of our local shelters and our local food bank.

Please join them this year by leaving non-perishable and non-breakable food by your mailbox on Saturday morning, May 9, before your letter carrier delivers your mail. It will make a difference in thousands of lives

For more information, call Melissa Young at 765-2476.

Last year the drive raised 21,686 pounds of food. This year’s goal is 22,000 pounds.

Since1996, the drive has collected 238,437 pounds of food.

This year’s partners include the Northern Oklahoma Youth Shelter, the New Emergency Relief Agency, the Salvation Army, Golden Villa adult day care, Domestic Violence of North Central Oklahoma and The Mission.
