Rep. Ken Luttrell-Ponca City

By Rep. Ken Luttrell

Two weeks ago, we wrapped up hearing bills from the opposite chamber. In total, both chambers approved 491 bills, with the House approving 230 Senate measures and the Senate passing 261 House bills.

The House passed Senate Bill 1994 before the deadline. This legislation would allow law enforcement to immediately remove squatters at the request of a property owner, giving property owners a say in what happens on their land.

Additionally, House Bill 4156, which passed both chambers and was signed into law, establishes the offense of impermissible occupation. This means individuals who willfully enter and remain in Oklahoma without proper authorization commit a crime.

With the federal government’s deliberately inadequate border strategy, we’ve got record numbers of folks sneaking into the U.S., straining resources and flooding our cities. Since every state is effectively a border state now, Oklahoma passed House Bill 4156 to tackle drug and human trafficking coming in from the southern border.

I recently attended the third meeting of the One Oklahoma Task Force. During the meeting, we were joined by public safety directors, law enforcement officials, and staff from the Attorney General’s office. We discussed our progress in preparing findings, suggestions, and solutions to submit to the Governor.

Adam Leaming, the superintendent of Ponca City schools, and Paula Cain from Ponca City Emergency Services recently visited the capitol. I always appreciate folks from home taking the time to visit the State Capitol.

It’s always great to see people from the district stop by the office. Again, thank you for electing me to serve District 37.

It is truly an honor and privilege to represent you at the State Capitol. As always, please do not ‎hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns at ‎405-557-7355 or [email protected].
