Lawsuit Filed Against The Pioneer Woman Mercantile Seeks $75,000

A lawsuit has been filed against The Pioneer Woman Mercantile in Pawhuska (Skip Schwink/KOKH).
PAWHUSKA, Okla. (KOKH) — A lawsuit has been filed against The Pioneer Woman Mercantile in Pawhuska.
According to court documents, Maria Chavez of Corpus Christi, Texas visited the ‘Mercantile’ in November 2021, and tripped over a ‘horseshoe installed as a doorstop.’
In the document, it states:
The Mercantile installed a horseshoe affixed to the ground with the loop facing up, so the loop became a hidden trap, pitfall, or snare. The horseshoe was installed as a doorstop… The elderly Plaintiff was pushed so her foot got caught in the loop, she fell backwards, and suffered a severe injury.
The court documents further that Defendant [The Pioneer Woman Mercantile] ‘failed to inspect, maintain, and repair its premises in a reasonable safe condition and/or failed to adequately warn of a danger known to Defendant and/or unreasonably created a danger.’
Documents also state that the plaintiff [Maria Chavez] has suffered pain of mind and body, lost the enjoyment of life, and has been disabled in her activities of daily living.
Chavez is suing for $75,000 in damages.
