Lamont Resident Injured in Accident Thursday Night in Ponca City

Ponca City-

A collision occurred on Thursday, December 30th, at approximately 10pm at Prospect and LA Cann in Ponca City.

A 2010 Chevy Camaro, driven by Bryan Dowell, age 31, of Lamont was northbound and attempted to pass in a no passing zone and met another vehicle. He then continued northbound and lost control of the vehicle, departed the roadway to the right and impacted a concrete cylinder. The vehicle then began to roll end over end approximately 3 times, ejecting the driver and coming to rest in the trees facing northbound.

According to the police report, the driver was intoxicated, and the cause of the accident was unsafe speed and improper passing. Seatbelts were equipped but not in use at the time of the accident.

Dowell was transported by Ponca City EMS to Ponca City Alliance Health Hospital and later transferred to Saint John’s Hospital in Tulsa where he was admitted in good condition with head and neck injuries.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Crompton #851 of Troop K.  Assisted by Trooper Vaughan #832 of Troop K, Ponca City Police Department, Ponca City Fire Department and Ponca City EMS.
