Kildare Fire Department holding fish fry June 2

Ponca City Now - May 28, 2019 2:27 pm

The Kildare Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, at the fire station in Kildare, at Church Street and 11th Street.

The department will serve fish, chicken, beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and a drink, with payment by donation to the Kildare Fire Department.

The money raised will be used as the matching portion of an 80/20 grant to update Personal Protective Equipment.

This will include six complete sets of turnouts, 12 face masks for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and 12 to 24 particulate air filters to fit the face masks.

The turnouts will provide every firefighter in the department with PPEs that are safe for firefighters to enter a structure fire, at an auto accident and to train with.

Face masks allow each firefighter to weair their own mask while fighting fires. The particulate filters will be used with the SCBA face masks when fighting grass fires to prevent breathing in soot and smoke and to keep eyes clear of dirt.

To make a donation, contact Fire Chief Travis Harris at (580) 763-7203.
