Kay County to fill positions, with few elections needed

Blackwell voters will go to the polls Feb. 11 to decide which candidate will win the Blackwell Public Schools Board Office No. 5.

The two  candidates to file for the position are Phil James Green and Tami Bickford.

Voters will also cast their ballots for the Blackwell Mayor position between Glenn Cox and T.J. Greenfield.

In Ponca City, voters have avoided an election on Feb. 11 for the City Commissioner. The only candidates who filed for two seats on the Board of Commissioners were the incumbents, Lanita Chapman in seat 1 and Shasta Scott in seat 3.

Two candidates filed for  the Kildare Public School board. Michael S. Smith and Jason Wimer will face off in the Feb. 11 election.

In Newkirk, Susan Rhea was the only candidate who filed for Office No. 5 on the Newkirk Public Schools Board.

No candidates filed for the Office No. 3 seat on the Peckham Public School board. The board will select someone to fill the position.

Office No. 3 on the Board for Pioneer Technology Center had only one candidate file. Gay Norris takes the position without an election.

Incumbent Don Nuzum will retain his seat for Office No. 5 on the Ponca City Public Schools Board of Education. He filed without opposition.

Casey McAninch was the sole candidate to file for Office No. 5 on the Tonkawa Public Schools Board of Education and wins the seat without an election.
