Kay County Sheriffs Dept Warning Public of Phone Scam

Ponca City Now - August 8, 2024 9:07 am

KCSO-
The Kay County Sheriff’s office has been advised that scammers are still trying to steal your money over the phone.
This specific scammer today called a Kay County resident and identified himself as Deputy Nelson (they don’t have one) and began telling the resident they had a warrant out for their arrest and would attempt to take payment over the phone. Big red flag… The sheriff’s office will NEVER request money from a citizen at any time!
If this happens to you please report it to the Kay County Sheriff’s Office 580-362-3250 and tell them your story.
