Kay County Health Department offering free tetanus shots

Ponca City Now - May 28, 2019 10:57 am

The Kay County Health Department will be holding a tetanus immunization clinic for Kay County residents affected by the recent storms and flooding on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The clinic will be at the Kay County Health Department at 433 Fairview, Ponca City.

There will be no fee assessed and minimal paperwork is required.

Tetanus boosters are recommended for adults and adolescents every 10 years. However, if a person experiences a wound that could have been contaminated by dirt, flood water, etc., it should be repeated if it has been longer than 5 years from the last tetanus injection.

Children under the age of 10 years will need to present to their primary care provider or the local health department to determine their need of vaccine.

For more information, call the Kay County Health Department at (580) 762-1641.
