Kay County Health Department offering free tetanus immunizations

Ponca City Now - May 10, 2019 11:30 am

BLACKWELL — The Kay County Health Department will be holding a tetanus immunization clinic for Kay County residents affected by the recent storms on Monday, May 13, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The clinic will be located at the Event Center at the Blackwell Fairgrounds, 800 S. Main Street, Blackwell, OK. There will be no fee assessed.

Tetanus boosters are recommended for adults and adolescents every 10 years. However, if a person experiences a wound that could have been contaminated by dirt, flood water, etc., it should be repeated if it has been longer than 5 years from the last tetanus injection.

Children under the age of 10 years old or adults with no vaccination history will need to present to their Primary Care Provider or the local health department to determine their need of vaccine.

For more information please contact the Kay County Health Department in Ponca City at (580) 762-1641.
