Kay County Fair continues to hold title

Ponca City Now - September 10, 2014 7:51 am

The Kay County Fair’s slogan is the "largest free county fair," but how did it get that title. I asked fair director, Jim Menzer and he said it could be multiple factors.

"To be honest I can’t tell you, I don’t know if it’s by vendor, I think it’s by crowd participation," Menzer said. "We have a bigger crowd at this fee fair than other county fairs."

Menzer said it hasn’t been measured in a while, but at some point it was measured and the title just stuck.

It’s free to enter, but the rides and food do cost money. Ride wrist bands are $23 per session. Each weekday is one session and the weekends are split into two session.

The Kay County free fair runs for five more days in Blackwell.
