Kay County District Attorney candidate gets contested by opponent

The Oklahoma State Election Board will be hearing seven contest of candidacy this morning.

District 8, District Attorney candidate, Scott Loftis is one of the seven being discussed.

Brian Dean, Oklahoma State Election Board Public Information Officer said Brian Hermanson, Loftis’s opponent filed the contest.

It’s law that candidates are registered in the party they intend to run in six months prior to their filing date.

Loftis is running as an independent and Hermanson said he switched his party a little over a month before filling.

Hermanson said he switched his party from Republican to Independent, March 4.

The board will begin discussing the contests at 9:30.

The board will decided whether to keep Loftis on the ballot or strike him from it.
