Kay County Democratic Party Precinct and County Convention April 6

Ponca City Now - March 28, 2019 3:40 pm

The Kay County Democratic Party will hold a joint Precinct and County Convention on Saturday, April 6.

The convention will be held at Pioneer Tech in Room B131 from 10 a.m. to noon. All Democrats in Kay County are invited to attend and participate in this important organizational meeting.

Every two years, the Oklahoma Democratic Party elects new leadership, votes on the state party resolutions (platform) and makes any changes to the bylaws governing the party. The precinct meeting is where the officers for each precinct are elected. There are 28 precincts in Kay County and each precinct can elect three officers.

The precinct officers, in turn, form the County Convention. The County Convention elects the new county chair, vice chair, and secretary. They also elect five delegates to the congressional and state conventions.

Participating in this process is a great way to learn about what the county party has done and to help make plans for the coming two years.

If you are interested in the Resolution process, the Resolutions Committee will meet at 9 a.m. in room B134.

If you have any question about the Precinct and County Convention, you can contact Chair Amy Muegge at [email protected].
