JD Ray earns Jared Weiberg Scholarship

TONKAWA —  Freshman Northern Oklahoma College basketball player JD Ray was awarded the Jared Weiberg Endowed Scholarship for the 2020-21 Academic Year.

The award was presented at NOC’s game against Murray Feb. 17.

The Jared Weiberg Endowed scholarship is presented to a member of the Maverick Men’s Basketball team whose qualities include a strong work ethic, loyalty, unselfishness, and a passion for basketball. J.D. is the 19th recipient of this award and will receive a $1000 scholarship. He is a nursing major from Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Presenting the scholarship certificate to J.D. is Dr. Cheryl Evans, NOC President; Jeremy Hise, NOC Athletic Director and Sheri Snyder, NOC Foundation Executive Director. Joining them are Mick and Vina Weiberg; Head Coach Donnie Jackson; J.D.’s parents Deshauna Walker and Earl Ray, and J.D.’s sister Jada Ray.

Ray’s name will be inscribed on the memorial plaque, which is displayed in the lobby of the Library-Administration building.
