Jared Wynn officially has been named head wrestling coach for Ponca City Public Schools.

“I enjoyed my first year but am glad to officially be named the head wrestling coach,” Wynn said. “I look forward to many more years in this position, coaching these young men in the great sport of wrestling.”

Ponca City School Athletic Director Jason Leavitt said, “Coach Wynn stepped up for our student athletes this past year during his interim role and proved that he is the right person to run our wrestling program.”

Wynn attended Blackwell High School and graduated in 2008. While in Blackwell, he earned two high school state championship titles before furthering his education at Oklahoma City University.

After he graduated from OCU, he was a lay coach for Deer Creek of Edmond for two years. Wynn came home to Blackwell as an assistant wrestling coach in 2012. During this tenure, he assisted the Blackwell Maroons to a team state championship in 2012.

Wynn came to Ponca City in 2015 and taught physical education at Liberty Elementary before moving to the high school. He was an assistant to former head wrestling Coach Jason Leavitt from 2014-2018.

Wynn is married to wife Beatriz and they have three boys, Brenten, 6, and twins Jackson and Collin, 1.
