PCPS Parents and Staff:
Kay County has been designated in the YELLOW Risk Level, or Low Risk Level, as determined by the Oklahoma State Department of Health COVID-19 Alert System report on August 21, 2020.
In accordance with PCPS safety protocols, students participating in Traditional Learning will receive in-person, on-site instruction beginning the week of August 24, 2020.
Kay County has been holding steady in the COVID-19 Risk Level for the last three weeks. Please be aware that individual classrooms, a school site, or the entire district could close at any time due to COVID-19 conditions.
Reasons may include daily infection rate spikes, lack of substitutes or staff, low student attendance, building safety, or quarantine/isolation requirements.
If any of the above events occur, teachers will pivot immediately to Distance Learning and learning will occur from home through Google Classroom.
Distance Learning days will count as instructional days with attendance required and assignments graded. The entire district will help support students and families.
Thank you to all our families for your cooperation and understanding as PCPS resumes classes this week! Each method of instruction faces unique circumstances, and your continued patience and support is appreciated as we work to refine the 2020-2021 school year.
We cannot wait to interact with our students either traditionally or virtually on August 24, 2020. It has been a long five months without our Wildcats!
Thank you,
Shelley Arrott Superintendent, Ponca City Public Schools
