Humane Society hosts Spay Day

Ponca City Now - March 24, 2014 6:18 am

The Ponca City Humane Society is hosting a Spay Day this Saturday.

Patricia Amador with the Humane Society said to register now.

You can pick up a registration form at the Humane Society or email [email protected].

“It is a lower cost alternative to individuals who meet particular income requirements," Amador said. "We are targeting low income individuals that financially may not be able to afford to spay or neuter their pet, the prices are really affordable.”

Dogs that weight less than 80 pounds are $40 and if they weigh more than 80 pounds they are $55.

Cats are $30.

Vaccinations will be available for $5.

They hope to spay or neuter more than 40 cats and dogs.

There is no limit how many pets an owner can bring.

Amador said getting your animal fixed is important.

“Obviously the big kicker is the over population of pets that are in our area, so spaying and neutering will definitely help that and just like I said different behavioral issues your animal may have," Amador said. "Health wise it’s very beneficial, there is so many things that it’s definitely a plus to spay and neuter your pet.”

It helps prevent cancer in animals, as well.

The Humane Society hopes to host more spay and neuter clinics later this year
