OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma City police say they are investigating the fatal shooting of a burglary suspect by a homeowner.

Police Staff Sergeant Billy Payne says the homeowner shot the suspect around 3:15 p.m. Saturday at a residence on the city’s northwest side.

Payne says police were alerted by a call of alarm in the area although officers were unsure of the exact address. He says the alarm was going off inside the home and that the homeowner was inside the home when the alarm went off.

Payne says the homeowner’s son told police his father had shot someone who had broken into the home. Police say the suspect died as he tried to leave the home.

Neither the homeowner not the suspect has been identified.
