Highway Patrol identifies Norman drowning victim

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a drowning which occurred at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Lake Thunderbird just west of Calypso Cove Marina area in Norman.

The patrol said Michael David Dixon, 30, of Norman was pronounced dead and transported to Oklahoma City Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dixon was swimming back to shore from a marker buoy when witnesses said they watched him go down and yell for help, the patrol reported. They looked in the area and could not locate Dixon, and called for emergency personnel.
