Hargis makes big announcement in Ponca City

Ponca City Now - June 26, 2014 7:31 am

Orange Nation is spreading into Ponca City. Oklahoma State University President, Burns Hargis is visiting tomorrow with a big announcement. What I can tell you is it has something to do with the University Center. Adam Leaming, The University Center CEO tell us more.

“At 1 he will be coming to the University Center and taking an opportunity to tour our facility," Leaming said. "He will look at some of the services the University Center provides in terms of higher education, and as part of that tour there is going to be a discussion or announcement of a new potential partnership developing between the Oklahoma State system and the University Center in that we can be able to offer an academic program in the near future for students, who are interested in this area. It’s a new emerging career field that we feel like is going to make a big splash with our citizens in this area. I can’t go in too much, but on Friday we’ll be able to announce the specifics.”

Leaming said another hint he can give is this particular program does have lab and physical space requirements, which Pioneer Tech intends to assist with. This is a program that students have requested more than once.

Before President Hargis makes his way to the UC he will be at City Hall at 11. Leaming said this talk is different from what he will talk about at 1.

" Burns is coming on Friday to discuss several things related to higher education in general and mainly goals of the Oklahoma State system," Leaming said.

The public is invited to either of these talks and is encouraged to wear orange and black.
