Governor to host arts awards

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is planning to recognize individuals and organizations from across the state for having a positive impact on their communities as part of the Governor’s Arts Awards.

The event will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the fourth-floor rotunda of the state Capitol.

Fallin will join officials from the Oklahoma Arts Council in recognizing 20 individuals and organizations, including the deadCENTER Film Festival in Oklahoma City and the Tulsa Young Professionals.

The ceremony will include performances by jazz pianist Barron Ryan of Tulsa and by guitar students from the Classen School for Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City.
