Full Moon Concert Season Opens in Tonkawa with Bat Bennett

Ponca City Now - May 20, 2024 6:10 am

Enjoy live music under the stars with Bat at the season-opening Full Moon Concert on Thursday, May 23 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand, Tonkawa, OK.  Bat Bennett is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and singer, touring as a solo act in North America for ten years.
A consummate entertainer, Bat is a tour-de-force of incredible musicianship with thousands of songs to perform instantly as well as a notable library of original compositions. Beverly Beckham of the Boston Globe writes, “…with just his guitar Bat makes time and place and whatever bad things that are happening in the outside world disappear. One song leads into another and then another and then another. The man never stops. And neither does the spell he casts.” The full-moon audience can anticipate more fun than believed possible!
The family-friendly concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Heart in the Park Pavilion and is free to all. Since bench seating in the park is limited, the public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Pets on leashes are welcome and restroom facilities are located across the street in the Santa Fe Depot.
Throughout the evening, concert goers may walk the world’s only heart-shaped labyrinth, and the evening concludes with the traditional group howl at the full moon. North Central Oklahoma Arts Council and Heart in the Park Committee of the Tonkawa Historical Society sponsor the free monthly concerts throughout the summer season on the night of the full moon. Next month’s Full Moon Concert is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21.
