The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants is providing the kits.

These kits are in honor of Jump$tart your Money Week, as well as April being National Financial Capability Month.

JYM week offers resources and classes around the state.

According to the Corporation for Enterprise Development these kits are a need in Oklahoma

20.3 percent of households are asset poor, meaning they have little financial cushion to rely on if unemployment or other emergencies lead to loss of income.

Oklahoma also ranked 31st in the nation for how residents fare in terms of achieving financial security.

And that’s not all, our state ranked 40th in income poverty rate, 42nd in unbanked households and 44th in consumers with sub prime credit.
