John and MaryAnne O’Neill, purchased the fox and had daughter Ava paint it to reflect each of the clubs and student groups at Ponca City High. School.
Ava O’Neill, a student at the Ponca City High School, has finished painting a new fox in Ponca City.
The fox now sits on the corner of Overbrook and Fifth Street.
Her parents, John and MaryAnne O’Neill, purchased the fox and had Ava paint it to reflect each of the clubs and student groups at the Ponca City High School.
She did a great job!
Ava hand painted the fox which she says took her roughly eight months.
She was still in school during part of the project, so it took her eight months working on and off, even in the warehouse without air conditioning during the summer to complete the “Fox”.
“She was really stressing a lot about the details of it,” said John.
“I was but just got out there and finished it,” Ava said.
Ava says she completely started over on the face details because she just wasn’t happy with the way it turned out in the beginning.
The fox was unveiled on Tuesday, September 12, with her parents, four Ponca City Board of Education members, Po-Hi Principal Shane Dent and PCPS Superintendent Adam Leaming attending the unveiling with Ava.
