Former President Endorses Mullin

The former President endorsed U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin on Saturday in the Republican runoff to replace U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, praising the congressman’s record as a businessman, lawmaker, and mixed martial arts fighter.

“Markwayne Mullin is an America First Warrior, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” The former President said in a statement issued from his Save America PAC (Political Action Committee.)

The ex-President endorsed Mullin over former state House Speaker T.W. Shannon, who campaigned for the ex-President’s reelection in 2020 and hired a former top White House aide, Kellyanne Conway, as a campaign consultant.

Mullin, a fifth-term congressman from Westville, finished first in the 13-person primary on June 28th, garnering 43.6% of the vote. Shannon, CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank, of Oklahoma City, received 17.5%.

The runoff is set for August 23rd. The GOP nominee will face former U.S. Rep. Kendra Horn, an Oklahoma City Democrat, in the November 8th general election, along with Libertarian Robert Murphy and independent Ray Woods.

The previous President’s statement on Saturday marked the first endorsement he has made in the two U.S. Senate races on the ballot in Oklahoma this year.
