Final phase of War Memorial Park trail reconstruction to begin

The final phase of the War Memorial Park Walking Trail Reconstruction will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5.  Work will reconstruct approximately 1,324 linear feet of walking trail located along the east side of Fifth Street, just south of the park entrance and looping south and then east along Highland Avenue.

The existing deteriorated asphalt trail will be replaced with a new concrete pavement trail section.  This phase will complete the trail loop around War Memorial Park.

The City of Ponca City has entered into a contract with River Ridge Construction to perform this improvement project and the approximate construction time for this project is 30 calendar days, barring weather delays.

This section of walking trail will be closed to pedestrian traffic, while the old section of trail is removed and the new section is constructed.  Citizens seeking alternative walking trail routes may consider Standing Bear Park, Redbud Park, or the Marland Mansion Estate.  Questions regarding this project may be directed to Jesse Beck, Assistant City Engineer, at 763-8046.
