Filing period opens Monday for City Commission positions

The filing period for two Ponca City Board of Commissioners positions opens Monday.

Candidates may file for Position 1 or 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kay County Election Board in the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7.

The positions currently are held by Commissioners MaryBeth Moore and Lanita Chapman.

The election for the positions will be held on Feb. 14. If needed, a runoff election will be held April 4 for the two candidates for each position with the greatest number of votes.
