February activities at the library

Ponca City Library

All the programs below take place at the Ponca City Library at 515 E. Grand Ave.

There are three ways to register for any of the events:

Thursday, February 1 

Origami: Lanterns on a String and Fortune Cookies

3:00-5:30 pm

Suitable for ages 8 and older unless children are accompanied by a guardian.  This is a FREE come and go program. Self-guided origami and materials will be provided. Please be aware that some of the instructions might be hard to follow for younger participants. Patrons who participate will be guided by two library staff instructors.

Lapsit Story time

Pre-registration event

11:00-11:30 am

Lapsit Storytime is geared towards toddlers under the age of two to help with early literacy skills. Toddlers and their parents or guardians will have fun singing songs, sensory bins, and discovering new books.

Tuesday, February 6

English Conversation Circle: American History Trivia Night

7:00-8:00 pm

Practice your English conversational skills with other English learners at the library. Discussions will be facilitated by the Ponca City Library Staff!

Wednesday, February 7

Story time and Craft

11:00-12:00 pm

Recommended ages 0–6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

Thursday, February 8

Origami: Chinese New Year Paper Craft!

3:00-5:00 pm

Suitable for ages 8 and older unless children are accompanied by a guardian

Green Cleaning DIY

Pre-registration event

6:00-8:00 pm

Learn about cleaning solutions for a healthier home and environment!  All supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Library! During this program you will walk away with your very own home-made cleaner.

Make-A-Valentine

11:00 am

Come create a homemade valentine for someone special in your life. The Ponca City Library will provide all the supplies; you bring your creativity! This program is open to all ages. Younger children will need parental guidance.

Tuesday, February 13

Mardi Gras Bead Art

3:00 pm

This is a come and go program for all ages to create a unique style artwork using Mardi Gras Beads. All materials will be provided.

English Conversation Circle: Social Media & the Internet (apps, dating sites, games, tech devices, etc.)

7:00-8:00 pm

Practice your English conversational skills with other English learners at the library. Discussions will be facilitated by the Ponca City Library Staff!

Brick Builders!

Recommended for children 0-12 and families

Children can use their imagination and creativity to build something using toy blocks of all shapes and sizes.

Computer Training Classes: Computers 101 & Using the Internet

9:00-11:00 am

For early registration, call 767-0345 and ask for the reference desk.  Note: you may sign up for multiple classes at once, or sign up for the one that best fulfills your needs!  For cancellation: Please call prior to the scheduled training class.

Book Club: The Circle by Dave Eggers

Pre-registration event

4:00-5:00 pm

This book club is recommended for ages 16 and older. There is a limited amount of books available that can be picked up at the reference desk. Light refreshments will be served.
