Feb.1 a special day at The Poncan, regardless of species

Prepare to enjoy a special event on Feb. 1 at The Poncan Theatre, complete with a case of rodent mistaken identity.
Audiences can see the “Groundhog Day” movie at 2 or 7 p.m. for only $5.
Between showings, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a FREE live prediction of the weather from Rocky the Prairie Dog and meteorologist John Utech. Ciara Utech will join to share her expertise on groundhogs, prairie dogs, and more. The audience can ask questions after the live presentation.
We’re not sure if Rocky is subbing for Punxsutawney Phil because of demands on Phil’s schedule Feb. 2, or because Phil wants to take his daughters to the Father-Daughter Dance Feb. 1. In any case, Rocky has agreed to stand in as Ponca City’s own official spring forecaster.
