OKLAHOMA CITY — On Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. the Will Rogers Theatre and Event Center in Oklahoma City will host “An Evening with Argus and Will,” featuring humorist Argus Hamilton and sponsored by the Oklahoma History Center, Will Rogers Theatre and Event Center and OKC Comedy Fest.
Proceeds from this special night of comedy will benefit the renovation of the theater at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore.
“The Oklahoma Historical Society is in the process of reinventing the Will Rogers Memorial Museum,” said Dr. Bob Blackburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society. “Since the memory of Will Rogers is fading, we want to introduce Oklahoma’s Favorite Son and his inspiring story to the next generation of visitors to keep his spirit alive for years to come. Renovating the theater where we show Will’s movies is a part of that process.”
Robin Williams once referred to Argus Hamilton as “the Will Rogers of the Baby Boom.” Hamilton’s daily column of humorous commentary about the news is carried by more than 100 newspapers and is heard on radio stations across the country.
A proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma who is now based in Los Angeles, California, Hamilton brings a unique perspective to the news. He performs at corporate, political and charity events across the United States, and can be found working on his latest material at The Comedy Store when he is at home in LA. He was honored by Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry as the official comedian of the Oklahoma Centennial.
Individual tickets for this special event are $30 and are available at www.okccomedyfest.com. For sponsorship information, please contact Bob Blackburn at (405) 522-5201. The Will Rogers Theatre and Event Center is located at 4322 N. Western Ave. in Oklahoma City.
