East’s Google Slam 2.0 set for Thursday

Ponca City Now - March 6, 2018 1:54 pm

East Middle School is hosting a Google Slam 2.0 in their building on Thursday, March 8. They will be serving food at 5:30 p.m., and Slam demonstrations will start at 6:10 p.m. and end around 7 p.m.

Google Slam is a student-led collection of seven-minute demonstrations that exhibit the variety of technologies students use at East, including Kahoot, Desmos, Quizizz & Slides, English IXL, Promethean Board Jeopardy, CoSpaces (Virtual Reality) and more.

This event is open to the community, and students would love to have everyone see the technology they use every day in the classroom. East is a 1-to-1 School, meaning that every student is furnished a Chromebook (laptop) that is the primary tool being used in classrooms. Most assignments are accomplished online and submitted through Google Classroom or other web-based servers.

The first Google Slam was in October. Google 2.0 will cover deeper more complex uses of the technology.
